Ian began writing books after his Hollyoaks novelisation Fame Game was published by Puffin.

He then went on to work on two books for the series Me and My Monsters – Monster Mess and Monster Manners, also published by Puffin.    

This was later followed by two pick your pathway books based on the hugely popular Moshi Monsters website; for Ladybird.

He is a member of the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers who shortlisted Me and My Monsters for their 2012 Scribe Awards in the Young Adult category.

He also worked on a picture book idea based on the artwork of the legendary bass player and founder member of The Specials, Horace Panter.
